HHS Track & Field
Team Fit-Night

When:

-Monday, Feb. 6th from 6:00-8:00pm…………..(for seniors and juniors).

-Tuesday, Feb. 7th from 6:00-8:00pm…………..(for sophomores and freshmen).

Where:

1st Place Athletics, 805 Regal Drive #2, Hsv, AL. 35801
(right next to Parkway Place Mall)

What:

All athletes will receive a 25% discount off the retail price of their running equipment. This includes: training shoes, racing flats and spikes, socks, apparel, watches, arch supports, sports bras, gloves, hats, and sunglasses. We will also be offering the parents a 15% discount on these same items.

Items Excluded: Swim-related equipment, swim suits, and nutrition items such as gels, bars, and drink mixes and individual replacement spikes.

Who's Invited:

Parents and siblings are welcome to come along with the athletes. We will have pizza and water available (please allow athletes to eat and drink first) so arrive on time.

Please plan to arrive after 6:00pm as 1st Place Athletics will still be open for normal retail hours up until 6:00pm. Thanks for your understanding and see you all Monday and Tuesday.

We desperately need to resurface the HHS asphalt track. Stress fractures and shin splints are very common injuries that our kids will suffer from running on this hard surface. Step by step, lane by lane, we are determined to roll out a rubber track. We have a dream to provide our kids with a very basic, but extremely necessary, training tool.

2011 Season Wrap Up

A very successful 2011 track season culminated at the 6A State Meet with the girls taking 7th and the boys tying for 5th. Two State Champions came from the girls team: Mariah Pennington, in her first track season, set an AHSAA javelin record (136-2) and Berta Amelinaite won her second consecutive discus title (123-3). Both girls are sophomores and hold the school record. Two boys medaled at the State Meet: Sophomore Grant Hill placed 2nd (discus) and 3rd(shot put) while senior Alex Buchanan took 3rd (triple jump). Both hold school records. At the State Decathlon, junior Nathan Vardaman placed 8th. In the standard outdoor track and field events, members of this year’s team hold five school records (boys) and three school records (girls). Congratulations to all athletes and coaches.

Reminder to ALL HHS Track Athletes that you receive 20% off of all shoes and apparel at 1st Place Athletics. Just let them know you are on the team.
